SkyXS/SkyDec supports the initiative to thank the Dutch soldiers and to wish them luck in these difficult times.

The director of the Royal PIT Pro Rege handed over symbolically more than 2.300 support e-mails for soldiers, civilian staff and their families to the Dutch Minister of Defence, Mr. Hans Hillen.
By publishing a full page advertisement in the newspaper “De Telegraaf”, sponsored by different organizations and a few companies, including SkyXS/SkyDec, the welfare organization Pro Rege mobilized the community to send their gratitude and support by e-mail for the soldiers and their families in these insecure times of economization.
From the reactions received by the organization appeared gratitude for the great commitment of the Dutch soldiers these last years and a warm support for them and their relatives.
Minister Hillen expressed his appreciation for this initiative and stressed that the welfare of those who suffer from this economization has its special attention.

SkyXS expands e-Welfare service with the introduction of flat fee internet
At the end of last year SkyXS introduced two new internet packages for the e-Welfare service offered to the Dutch soldiers in Afghanistan.
Next to the existing Time Based package, based on minutes, a Basic package with a data limit of 4GB/month and a Premium package with a data limit of 6GB/month was introduced.
This means that users do not only have the possibility to pay per minute, but also have the choice to pay for the data they have actually used. The introduction of these two new packages was possible thanks to the development of new techniques.
The e-Welfare service is the current service SkyXS provides to the military troops in Afghanistan. Based on our “ISP in a box”- concept we have created a complete service offering Telephony, Internet access, Television and Radio on different military bases in Afghanistan through satellite communication. These services are offered from end-to-end, including an internet café and daily monitoring through our network operation centre.

SkyXS organised real time live connection to Uruzgan
On 1 July 2010, SkyXS organised a real time live connection between Afghanistan and the Netherlands during the 60th jubilee of the military regiment "Limburgse Jagers".
Via a satellite connection visitors of the Dutch event could listen to the speech of their commander live from Uruzgan, Afghanistan. Whilst seated comfortably in cinema chairs, they were also able to talk directly to the commander. The visitors, amongst whom some important military staff members, visibly enjoyed the communication exchange, asking the commander questions and even making jokes together.
The live connection could be followed on an immense cinema screen at the former complex of the "Ernst Kazimir Kazerne" in the Dutch town of Roermond. After the speech, the commander was able to watch the revelation of the plaque which was offered for this jubilee. Once the official ceremony ended, time had been reserved to enable individuals to have one-to-one contact to their loved ones located on mission in Afghanistan.

SkyXS present at Defence Conference for Afghanistan
In the theme of "the lessons learned the past 4 years", SkyXS presented a booth showing "THEN and NOW". Four years ago we started as pioneers in Afghanistan where we implemented a complete telephone, internet, television and radio network via satellite connection. After four years working on and off in Afghanistan there are no secrets for us anymore in maintaining a network in a rural and dangerous environment with extreme temperatures.
